Laughter is your birthright, a natural part of life that is inborn. Infants begin smiling during the first weeks of life and laugh out loud within months of being born.
Humor is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy.
Humor and laughter strengthens your immune system and boosts your energy. It diminishes pain and protects you from the damaging effects of stress and it’s a priceless medicine.
Maybe you didn’t grow up in a house were laughter is a common sound, you can learn to laugh at any stage of life.
HERE ARE SOME WAYS TO START:
SMILE: It is the beginning of laughter. It’s contagious. When you see something even mildly pleasing, practice smiling.
COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS: The simple act of considering the good things in your life will distance you from negative thoughts that are barrier to humor and laughter.
MOVE TOWARDS LAUGHTER: When you hear laughter move towards it. People are very happy to share something funny because it gives them an opportunity to laugh again. When you hear laughter, seek it out and ask, what’s funny?
SPEND TIME WITH FUN PLAYFUL PEOPLE: These are people who laugh easily both at themselves and at life’s absurdities. There playful point of view and laughter are contagious.
BRING HUMOR INTO CONVERSATIONS: Ask people, What’s the funniest thing that happened to you today? This week? In your life?
In the midst of trouble, Laugh!
In the midst of trial, Laugh!
In any negativity, Laugh!
When you laugh in troubling situations, it shows that you trust God enough to handle the problems facing you.
When people ask you why you don’t own a car at this stage of your life, laugh out loud!
When they ask you why you are still squatting instead of renting an apartment or getting your own house, laugh out loud!
When people ask you why you are still single, laugh out loud!
Your laughter is a sign of faith and lack of worry because worry minds can never have faith enough to move mountain.
Daughter of Zion, start laughing!
EXERCISE: Have a fun day. Give yourself a treat, go to the cinema, take your family out, visit a good friend and encourage each other. Couples have fun, cook a special dinner for your spouse and share a good bottle of wine, do some barbeque picnic for the family and invite friends.
JUST ADD SOME HUMOR TO YOUR LIFE!
